Be in nature.

Take the challenge to find out more of who YOU are!
Camp Luna is a nature-based camp for girls ages 12-17
that combines mentoring and outdoor programming as an opportunity
for relationship, challenge and growth.
Girls from the Rogue Valley
will sit in smaller circles along with other girls and women
who have been trained by The Rose Circle to listen,
support and encourage. Through art projects, spending time in nature,
games, hiking, campfires and other activities,
girls will learn more about their own choices, boundaries,
thoughts and emotions. The bonds they form may then be carried
into the following school year, as each girl decides if she wants to
continue to meet on a
regular basis, either one-on-one with a mentor or with a circle of girls.
How can I volunteer?
This camp would not be possible without the support and help of volunteers.
There are many different roles and capacities in which one can assist in the preparation,
delivery, and/or breakdown of Camp Luna.
• 8-10 women volunteers (Rose Mentors) are needed during Camp Luna to support
and help with all aspects of camp. Women stay throughout the duration of the camp in
order create a strong and safe container for the girls. The Rose Mentors are required to
take the weekend Mentor Training. The last training was April 23 – 25, 2010.
• There are many other opportunities to volunteer for tasks prior to and after camp
for those who aren’t interested or available in being a Rose Mentor. Some of these
volunteer needs include: putting up flyers, helping set up camp, supporting the girls in
the Luna Lift-Off, helping with food donations, organizing the Luna Community Celebration.

From one of our parents...
“My daughter came home for the first time ever from a camp so happy.
She use to come home and would be in tears and say I am never going back.
This was about the 8th one I tried and I could not believe the difference in her
when she came home. She was not arguing, yelling, fighting all the time.
She was willing to help with things she would fight to do before. She was very
depressed before she went and when she came back she said she had a reason to live,
she now knows that she is special and looks forward to live. THANK YOU SO MUCH WORDS
CAN NOT EXPLAIN HOW DEEPLY THANKFUL I AM THAT SHE HAD THE CHANCE TO GO.
IT CHANGED HER WHOLE OUT LOOK ON LIFE. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A SPOT IN MY HEART
FOR CAMP LUNA AND ALL THOSE THAT WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO HELP MY DAUGHTER.” - CB

Where and when is Camp Luna?
Camp Luna took place from Wednesday, June 16 through Saturday, June 19, 2010 at
retreat land outside of Ashland, Oregon.
Girls gathered with their family, friends and community members
for a Luna Lift-off on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Hidden Springs Wellness Center in
Ashland. From here, the girls and Mentors were transported on a bus to the Camp site.
Camp concluded on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Noon with a Community Celebration
pot luck lunch at Lithia Park in Ashland, Oregon. Families will pick up their daughters following the Celebration.
Is Camp Luna new?
Camp Luna was birthed out of a pilot overnight campout
we had in August of 2007. Because of the success of that
experience, we saw the potential for a longer and more in-depth
opportunity for girls to explore themselves through
their connection with the natural world. Thus, the idea for Camp Luna 2009
emerged. Unlike the first campout that was designed specifically
for girls and mentors who were already in circles, Camp Luna is now
open to the larger community of girls and women.
How do I sign up?
The steps to registration include:
1. Download, complete, and submit a
Camp Luna application with your monetary deposit. If you cannot download the application call Ellen at 541-488-2361
to have one mailed.
2. Once the application has been received a registration packet will be mailed to you
that includes an introductory letter, a packing list, and other medical and liability forms.
3. Complete and return the registration packet by June 1, 2010.
4. Await enrollment confirmation. Please note that submitting an application does
not guarantee a spot at Camp Luna. Once the application has been received, it will be
reviewed for appropriate program placement. You may be contacted with questions to
ensure the most appropriate program placement and/or to be made aware of a waiting
list for the program.
How much is Camp Luna?
Costs for the 2010 Camp Luna experience is a sliding scale $100 - $250.
Because of the generous support from Women Living Leadership, a branch of the United Way of
Jackson County, we are able to keep the cost of Camp Luna affordable.
From one of the girls...
"I felt like I really grew up in an amazing way at Camp. I was able to open up is a way I rarely can.
I especially loved finding out who the other girls really were without the masks we put on in our daily lives.
I also felt like I'm taking home something really valuable."
